Through its Art Practice and Development Research Group (LKAO), the Amsterdam School of the Arts (AHK) has acquired an exceptionally high profile in the area of interdisciplinary research in the arts that binds together productively education, professional practice and new developments in the arts. Under the leadership of Marijke Hoogenboom, this interfaculty research group initiates, produces and coproduces with partners in the field on a broadly diverse selection of projects.
One such project is the Artist In Residence (AIR) programme, which, among o loan preapproval
ther things, offered the leading Amsterdam-based dance company EG | PC the opportunity to work on the pilot phase of the Inside Movement Knowledge (IMK) research project. In the intervening period, since 2005, the AHK has gradually built up a broad-based research group led by the LKAO, while apply for bank loan
also collaborating with the various dance departments at the Amsterdam Theatre School.
The IMK project is rooted in the LKAO’s function as a knowledge bridge between arts education and professional practice. In the Netherlands, there is no postgraduate-level education for research and development in the arts; the highest attainable level is the vocational Master’s degree. The LKAO is therefore the perfect organisation within the school to take on the responsibility for dealing with professionals’ questions on matters of current developments.
The Art Practice and Development Research Group, Amsterdam School of the Arts is the initiating and coordinating partner of the IMK project and is overseen by LKAO director Marijke Hoogenboom. The IMK Reseach Group involves Bertha Bermúdez and Scott deLahunta as Project Leaders. Corine Snijders is Programme Manager and Yvonne Boekhout the Programme Assistant.

 Marijke Hoogenboom (Project Director) Marijke Hoogenboom became Professor of Art Practice and Artistic Development at barclays bridging loan
the Amsterdam School of the Arts in 2003. She was previously involved in the founding of DasArts, a workspace for the various theatre disciplines. Hoogenboom is a member of the Grants Committee of the Prince Bernard Cultural Fund, and shares responsibility for international policy at the Dutch Council for Culture. In September 2008 she received the Marie-Kleine Gartman Pen for artists and theatre commentators from the Dutch Stage Association.

 Bertha Bermudez (Project Leader) Bertha Bermúdez Pascual is a former dancer in some of Europe’s leading dance companies, Frankfurt ballet, Compañia Nacional de Danza in Madrid, as well as Emio Greco | PC, then having turned towards work in dance documentation. Bertha Bermudez is since 2007 part of the research group Art Practice and Development, headed by Marijke Hoogenboom where she focuses on the theme Dance Transmission as a source for dance documentation and since 2009 coordinator of the Accademia Mobile section of research and education within ICKamsterdam-Emio Greco | PC.

 Scott loans in
deLahunta (Project Leader) Scott deLahunta works from his base in Amsterdam as a researcher, writer, consultant and organiser on a range of international projects bringing performing arts with a focus on choreography into conjunction with other disciplines and practices. He is currently Research Fellow with the Art Theory and Research and Art Practice and Development Research Group, Amsterdam School for the Arts. He serves on the editorial boards of Performance Research, Dance Theatre Journal and the International Journal of Performance and Digital Media.

 Corine Snijders (Program Manager) Corine Snijders was a staff member of the post-graduate performing artsprogramme DasArts for seven years. On the basis of that experience she was invited to be programmanager for the research project IMK. She studied Art instant cash no credit check
and Art Policy at the University of Groningen and was working for four years as a productionmanager at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels. And for eight years now she collaborates with theatermaker Edit Kaldor (Kata Amsterdam).
