Together, the six different dance courses of the AHK Dance Department/ Theaterschool, Amsterdam School of the Arts fully represent professional dance in all its diversity. They focus on both current developments and traditional forms. There are two courses for future choreographers: the School for New Dance Development (SNDO, bachelor) and the Amsterdam Master of Choreography. Central to the SNDO’s approach is the critically vindicated alliance and leicester loans
invention and composition of authentic movement material. The Amsterdam Master of Choreography aims to contribute to contemporary dance research and dance creation in the Netherlands and beyond. Both courses of study attract students seeking to gauge their developing practice, broaden their creative processes and establish themselves independently in the field.
Under the direction of Leontien Wiering (member of the board of the Theatre School and head of Dance), the dance department has formed a small and tightly focused supra-departmental research group, which will work together closely with researchers attached to the LKAO in testing and evaluating the Interactive Dance Workshop Installation. In consultation with the teachers, this research project will be embedded in a two-year programme that will develop specific learning models and educational models around the case study. This will involve becoming acquainted with the company and dealing systematically with issues relating to principles of training, body perception, dance notation and the use of multimedia in education. Inside Movement Knowledge builds on the involvement of EG | PC in dance education at the AHK since 2005. Two of the core aims are to continue intensive contacts with professional practice and to renew the curriculum.

Leontien Wiering (Group Director)
Leontien Wiering is currently the head of Dance, Theaterschool, Amsterdam School of the Arts and former director of the Nederlandse Dansdagen. She is also co-artistic director of the COVER project, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness of the historic legacy of dance among a younger generation of dance makers and audiences In the Netherlands and abroad.

Vivianne Rodrigues (Research Group Leader)
Vivianne Rodrigues began her professional instant cash loans online no credit check
dance career in 1980 and worked, researched and performed in Brazil and abroad for almost eight years. After graduating from the School of New Dance Development Amsterdam, she worked for many choreographers such as Sasha Waltz, Iztok Kovac and Angelika Oei. Her fascination with films led to a study in film editing at the Media Academy in Hilversum. Since 2002, she has been combining her teaching at the Theaterschool with her promotional dance and theater company video making. |
John Taylor (Research Group Leader)
John Taylor is a dancer, teacher and choreographer with a BA in Theater Studies from the College of William and Mary. John received the Silver Dance Prize from the VSCD in 1992. He was chair for the advice commission for dance projects of the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts. As a teacher he has worked for companies like Rosas and DV8 as well as schools ranging from the Laban Center to CodArts to Arnhem, and since 1993 on the faculty of the MTD Theaterschool Amsterdam. |
Maria Ines Villasmil (Research Group Leader)
After a career as a Sociologist in Venezuela, Maria Ines Villasmil moved to Holland in 1996 to furt persoonlijk krediet
her pursue her studies in choreography. Since 2003, she teaches at the Amsterdam Theatre School. As a freelance teacher and choreographer she works in Latin-American countries, Holland and recently at the PSU (Prishtina Summer University) at UNMIK (Kosovo). In July 2004, Maria received her master degree in Choreography and New Media from the Amsterdam School of the Arts. |
